Gérard Depardieu consulted Alfred Tomatis at two moments in his life. As an adolescent, a beginning actor, he was blocked — “I was listening too much, I could no longer emit”:
“He adjusted the levels of the ear, he made it so that the aggression of hearing no longer prevented emission.”
Twenty years later, about to prepare a role in English, he returned to work on American sonorities following the principle of foetal listening. His assessment, lucid and smiling:
“The result is that I understand the questions much better than my own answers.”
